How to get rid from Child’s runny nose | Health Center

Child’s runny nose

Small children have less immunity power and because of which they get illness very easily. Among many diseases of children, runny nose is a common but dangerous one. Many people do not call it a disease as it is caused easily and many times. Runny nose of child is an acute disease but can lead to chronic disease like pneumonia which may hamper throughout the life if it is neglected. The main factor responsible for runny nose or common cold is rhino virus but it is not the only factor.

1. Honey:
Pour two tablespoon of raw honey in the boiled warm water and give it to your child to drink for 2-3 times a day.

2. Saline solution:
Saline solution is made by adding 1/4 tablespoon of salt in a cup boiled cool water which is useful for the treatment of runny nose for both child and adult. Tip backward the head of your child, put 2/3 drops of solution in one of the nostrils and suck the excess mucus using bulb syringe by closing another nostril with your finger. Repeat this process for each nostrils 4-5 times a day.

3. Steam:
Turn the bathroom into a steam room by closing the door and turning the shower on full hot. Take your child into the bathroom and sit there with your child for 10 to 15 minutes. Repeat this process 3-4 times a day.
You can apply other methods also to supply steam to your child as steam clears out the excess mucus.

4. Basil:
Extract about 1 tablespoon of basil juice from fresh basil leaves. In a cup, mix a tablespoon of each basil juice, ginger juice, lemon juice and honey and serve it to your child 2-3 times a day.
You can directly give your child few leaves of fresh basil 4-5 times a day to heal runny nose.

5. Eucalyptus Oil:
Put 4 or 5 drops of eucalyptus oil in warm bath water for your child. Let your child enjoy the bath for 10 minutes. Repeat this process 2-3 times a day.
You can even massage your child’s chest gently with few drops of eucalyptus and olive oil.

6. Chicken soup:
You can provide your child with warm chicken soup which prevents infections of the upper respiratory tract.

Supply your child with warm fluids as much as he/she can take which will be the plus point to help to get rid of runny nose.
